PD120-2 / PDTD120-2 – Diagnostic system for medium and high voltage cables

PD120-2 and PDTD120-2 are advanced diagnostic systems that offer both portable and integrated solutions for analysis of medium and high voltage cables, rotating machines and transformers. By enabling early detection of weaknesses in cable systems, better conditions are created for preventive maintenance while reducing the risk of costly downtime.

PDTD120-2 is equipped with integrated Tan Delta technology, enabling simultaneous measurement of partial discharges (PD) and Tan Delta (TD). This parallel diagnostics saves time and eliminates the need for cable preconditioning, which could otherwise negatively affect measurement results. The system also allows measurements at constant frequency over different cable lengths, which is essential for comparing results from previous tests and monitoring development over time.

The diagnostic system is designed for testing XLPE, PE, EPR and PILC cables up to 100 km. With precise fault localization of up to 1% accuracy and a resolution of 0.1 pC per 0.1 meter, even small deviations can be identified at an early stage. This makes the system a powerful tool for ensuring high operational reliability in critical infrastructure.

In combination with the HVA120 unit, the PDTD120-2 can be expanded into a complete and high-performance system for cable testing up to 120 kV. The solution is flexible, scalable and adaptable to different needs and applications.

The system complies with relevant international standards and guidelines, including IEEE 400.2 and 400.3 as well as IEC 60270, IEC 60502-2, HD 620 and CEI EN 50393. This ensures reliable and reproducible measurement results in all types of projects.
